Hello Geoff;
Thank you for your reply. I'll check out the links you suggest. As far as being new, you are right I'm not new to genealogy but new to looking for reli's in England proper. I got a lot of help in finding the Welsh side of the family and most of it was on Familysearch.com.
In the letter I received from another relative, written in 1906, was from my gggrandfather who wrote about his gggrandfather. As I had said in my previous post I had tied most of the LAKE's in Trelleck, Monmouth together but as far back as I could go was a Henry Lake born about 1752. He married Sarah Lewis dau of Thomas Lewis in 1788.
I could never find Henry's birth information and felt that he had moved into the Trelleck area rather than being born there. The letter confirmed what I had found and stated that Henry Lewis was born in Holsworthy, Devon. It further states that Henry was one of 8 children and that Henry's parents were farmers and had died young. The children were given to relatives to be raised. The only other name of any children that was mentioned was a William that had fought in the war of 1812 when they burned the White House. Wm. had fought in Battle of Blandensburg under General John Ross.
I would be most appreciative on any information you might be able to offer.
Thanks again.
