Elizabeth..age 45

Mary...age 20

Henry ..age 15

Charles ..age 10 months

All born in county and living at Green End, Parish Sawtry ,St Judith. Huntingdonshire

Does this fit in with the information on his marriage cert?

And this looks like it could be your Charles birth...this would give you his parents names and you would be able to work out who is who on the above census's

Hi Susan, thanks very much. I am awaiting Marriage cert of Charles Deer to see what the fathers name is, I am hoping that it will say NONE. Plus extra information of witness names etc.

This would prove that his mother is Mary or Elizabeth.

Elizabeth was listed as daughter in law in 1851 so she must have been married into the Deer family.

of course he could be Marys son.

or Henrys?? i know Henry was listed as 15 in 1841 but don't ofrget they rounded down the ages to the nearest 5 (of people over the age of 14) so Henry could in fact be 19 and not 15??

No "must" about it. There's not enough information to be that categoric.  The 1851 details as transcribed don't state if she was married or not, which is the crucial detail.

Daughter in law also covered what we now call step daughter ie she could have been a daughter of Elizabeth, wife of William, by a first marriage, or was her illegitimate daughter, and she was enumerated with the same name as the head of family. A very common happening.

We need to see her marital status in 1851 to arrive at what would still be a tentative conclusion
