EADIE
« on: Tuesday 17 July 07 21:21 BST (UK) »
Am trying to get back beyond my Great Grandparents, William EADIE, Bn 1874 and Margaret Shearer JACK, Bn 1883, married in Bothkennar, Stirlingshire in 1899. They moved to farm at Little Bentley Hall, Essex, in 1920's.
   Thanks,
          Gavin Kedar

Thanks Suz, it does look like it. She had a brother called Alexander, whom I remember visiting in Cumbernauld as a wee lad, but he would be born after 1891 census. Thanks for the help,
    Gavin.

I thought that too.

Found the info on Ancestry -only problem with Scotland -I can only get transcriptions, not images -so have to rely on them being reasonably accurate -can't find William and Margaret Eadie after their marriage.
Do you have their marriage cert ?
If so does it give details of William's father?
Do you have any other details of William which may assist in finding him in his earlier years?

Suz,
Thanks again. The Eadie side is the least known of all my family lines. No certificates etc, only word of mouth, & then, many I have lost contact with, me being in Australia.
Some families talk a lot of parents, G'parents etc, Eadies seem not so concerned.
But thanks again for your help, much appreciated. Are you related to either Jacks or Eadies?.
  Regards,
     Gavin.

Your message caught my eye as my father talked about visiting relatives at Great Bentley Hall in the 1930s/1940s.  His mother was Margaret Mills whose mother was Agnes Jack sister of Margaret Shearer Jack who married William Eadie.  My father talks of Jimmy and Jean Maule.  Are they related to you?
