ancestry site
« on: Thursday 19 July 07 00:21 BST (UK) »
Has anyone been on Ancestry site tonight? I have just tried to use the free BMD indexes. They no longer seem to be free. Is it right or am I cracking up? One minute I was getting a marriage date, when I went to look for the partner, it is telling me to sign up 14 day free trial etc. There is nothing to say that it is no longer free. HELLLLPPPP
I am researching the following names.....Owen/s-Holyhead, Rimmer/Lewis-West Derby, Wood/s/Hayter-Toxteth

I have just signed back in to Ancestry and I still can't access the records that used to be free. The Free BMD is still working, but not the ordinary birth, death and marriage indexes. Where is usually says "updated and free" is no longer there. When I type in the details I am looking for, it gives me the list, but when I click to view, it is telling me to subscribe. I thought they would of least given us an e-mail or put it on their site, but I can't find anything. If anyone can shed some light, please do. Lynn

Dunno, but I'm getting the 14-day invite when I want to look at complete indexes 1837-1983 too. It tells me that I am a registered guest.

I have had a free account for ages now. I never had a problem until last night. I got one record of a marriage and then when I tried to double check and tried to find the partner, I clicked on the view thingy and it told me I had to become a paid member. Even things I have saved to my shoe box, i can no longer view. Lynn

I have had problems after changing e-mail address. I was a registered guest for some 5 days. Finally after 3 e-mails it seems to have been resolved but once again Ancestry seem to have problems
