1851-1853 S.A wives abandoned - Goldfields
« on: Thursday 19 July 07 05:32 BST (UK) »
Good afternoon

Does anyone know of a website that has a database search for South Australian women who's husband's have gone off to the Goldfields in Victoria and they have never returned. I think the period was between 1851-1853.

Greatly appreciate any help

Cheers
Kabana

Kabana - my ggg-grandmother Deimel was one of those women - but I don't know of any database. Her husband and his brother never returned - she is believed to have had a letter saying they would be starting out on their way back - and that is the last that was heard of them.

I  will be watching this htread with interest to see if anyone has any other information.
