Hi Pettsy,

Cause of death looks like gastroenteritis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gastroenteritis) Fever Seven Days to me.

Hi Pettsy,

Looks like I'm chasing you round these posts!

If you include Killearn Churchyard in your visit, I've just found John & Ann Brown (nee McEwen's) MI. Whether the stone is stil there or not, I don't know but it'll be worth having a look. It must have been in good condition as there's quite a lot of information.

The stone is/was on the right hand side of the Church if you're standing at the gable end (on the photo I posted earlier) and is in a row parallel to the back gable end.

The MI is as follows:

John Brown of Braefoot died 5th February 1869 aged 77
His wife Ann McEwen died 6th February 1859 aged 61
Son William died 27th May 1912
(William's wife?) Margaret McLaren died 5th October 1905
(William's son?) John died 11th August 1938 aged 76
Lillias Dunlop MacFarlane died 9th January 1934
Ann Brown died 12th December 1949 aged 81

Next to this stone is another Brown Family so here's the details of that - just in case

James Brown died 9th December 1848 aged 26
Susan Brown died at Boquhan 5th November 1879 aged 13
James Lindsay Brown died 23rd May 1895 aged 25

I think Tati might be right about Paul being John's mother's maiden name.

There's a few Pauls buried in the Churchyard too. There are 3 separate stones listed for them - they are situated at the back of the Churchyard - e.g. behind the back gable end.

Are you getting excited about your visit yet ???   ;D

Hi again Anne  :D

Thank you, you are a star!!!

I think I will have to visit the cemetery, we are meeting frineds at Polmont, who said they will take us on a mini tour of Stirling.
Is the cemetery anywhere near Stirling Castle, or the William Wallace Memorial, as we will be visiting them.

Regards

Pettsy.

Anne

Excited, I can't wait  ;D
I have so many places to visit this time, and I am even hoping to go up to Glencoe.
Edinburgh Archives have ordered all the paper work I want to look at and copy.
I have just put together a folder, with maps etc.. in for Tenement House, People's Palace, Óran Mór, Barras market, Edinburgh, Stirling, Mavie Mill, Glencoe .....

So it could be Paul, thank you  ;)

No, Killearn isn't anywhere near Stirling.

It's about 18/20 miles away to the west and would take about half an hour. If you were to take took A811 from Stirling (town), this would take you through all the wee villages - Kippen, Buchlyvie, Balfron and eventually to Killearn. It's a lovely scenic route - I'm sure you'd enjoy it. (Providing it's not teemng with rain of course!)
