Smiths in Walthamstow
« on: Friday 20 July 07 12:47 BST (UK) »
Hi  I've discovered a previously unknown relation Blanch Dora Smith b 1895(ish) in Walthamstow.  I can't find another trace of her - could anyone help, I wonder?
Her brother Laurence A(?ndrew) was b 1892(ish) in Walthamstow.  Family rumour is that he died young after an accident - again any help would be gratefully received as I haven't been able to find further trace of him.
Cheers  Maggott

Hi Newfy & thank you for your post.  Yup, this is as far as I've been able to trace them, they seem to vanish from the records at this point.  My mother left home in 1923 & Laurence had died before this, it seems.  Blanch is a total mystery - I hadn't heard of her at all.  Any ideas as to the next step?

After 1901 - until the 1911 in 2009 - its down to BMD searching, Electoral Roll/Registers, Rate-payers records etc.

Not easy !

Been there - done it :) I use ancestry but I've had no luck so far & I've looked until my eyes come out on stalks.  My hope is that someone will either recognise the names (Smith - some hope!) or have access to Essex records.  I live in the sticks & can't get in to London easily.  If not, roll on 2009
