At the moment it is only questions I can give you.

Have you seen the image of the census that this was found.  Is it without a doubt Kings Ainer Hotel.  Could you send it as a p,m

If you have not got it could you give me the name of your relative who was at the hotel and anything else from the census I might be able to find it myself.

Regards

Betty

It is possibly the King's Arms that you are looking for.

Lot's of people stayed in hotels. If you were travelling and staying somewhere on census night, that's where your name was recorded.

AS jamjar says, lots of people did use hotels when they were travelling. What was the occupation. That might well give a clue.

their occupation was a labourer but all the family were with him.i just assumed that to stay in a hotel years ago you would have to be pretty wealthy?were labourers on good wages back then?if it is the kings arms hotel does anyone know any more about it in dunscore?

Hi Parky

I've just looked at the census image and they don't seem to be at any hotel. They are a separate household living in the village of ?Bottach, Dunscore.

The hotel is on the previous page and 4 households away. It might be a possible transcription error but they are definitely not at the hotel.

Where did you get the original information from?

Here's the hotel entry and on the next page the household of your Millar family.
