1851 Napan, Chatham, New Bruswick Census
« on: Wednesday 25 July 07 12:40 BST (UK) »
Greetings,

Would someone be able to find Janet Jardine - Nee Kerr on the 1851 census, please?

She was born around 1772 and emigrated in 1822. Her husband was Joseph, but he was deceased by 1851.

There is a publication: Jardines of Atlantic Canada...
But it has to be viewed on site, a shelf collection...

descendant of grandchild (James son Joseph...)

Has lots of blanks....but scroll down for land grants...

Greetings,

Thanks for your reply and the links you have provided. I had forgotten about some of them. They make interesting reading.

Much of the information is wrong. I informed the writers when I last saw it.

I think rather than guess and put wrong details in books, which people have to purchase, things should be left out, until verified.

I am now living in the shire they came from, but it is a big place with many a Jardine and there is no record of their births, that can be tied to them. Kerr is fewer in number, but still without records one can't be sure of a match.

Once again thank you. I will be filling out the form for the census, in the morning.

Had a look on the census site and I found one of the rellies. Thank you.

They were living in Glenelg.

I am on a mission to sort out the mess in the book 'Jardines of Atlantic Canada'.

Hello Jamjar and others interested in this Jardine family...Joseph and Janet Jardine are my 5th g-grandparents. Joseph>James>James Kerr>William James>William Henry>John>me

I am also looking to go further back with both sides of the family. I have a copy of Joseph and Janet's marriage announcement, but that is where my info stops.

I used "The Jardines of Atlantic Canada" for much of my family tree, but would love to know of any corrections that I should make.

Would love to be in contact with other related to this family.

Cheers

Rob

Welcome Rob.

I think I may have been in touch with you by email.

Joseph's birth or parents have never been found, but I do have a photo of a headstone with Janet's father and other Kerr on it. I can't recall if her mother is mentioned and am not currently on the PC so will look at the information later.

You need to make a few more postings before we can correspond by personal message.

Is there any specific information you are looking for?
