There's no question of the baptism record. The parent's are as I have said.  There are no birth certificates in Scotland before 1855. You need to get the marriage cert.

Have just heard from Reiver that  Margaret, aged  7,  was with her grandmother, Jane B Johnston,  at Flosh, KF in 1851.

He's now gone off line  :-\

She could have just been staying with them around census time or helping her grandmother or living there permanently.

By 1861 she is a servant, aged 18,  in the home of Walter and Margaret Allan at Calversholm, KF

District 837 ED 1 Page 4

Think that's my lot  :)

Trapper,

Please see up to date Ordnance survey map for Calvertsholm, Kirkpatrick Fleming.  It gives you an idea the footprint of the house where your ancestor resided.

Hi kojak

What lovely pics  :)

A wee bit tricky to ask this after all your hard work but I will  :-\

Have you got anything of Hollee village or Williamsfield where the family lived, please. Poor Margaret was only a servant at Calverstholm farm for a short while  :-\

Regards
