Inveresk Area, Midlothian. Neill Family.

While assisting a friend, I have managed to add three earlier generations to her Family History, but have now reached a point in the late 1700s at which I have been unable, as yet, to achieve a breakthrough.  I would therefore greatly welcome any help in tracing the parents of Peter Neill whose details, taken from the draft of the Family Register that I have prepared and all supported by IGIs, are as follows : -

1.0   Peter Neill  born c. 1793 in Inveresk
   married Margaret Chalmers in Prestonpans on 22 Jan 1815
   They had at least 8 children, all born in Inveresk : –

   1.2   William Neill          b. 18 Dec 1817} 
   1.3   Robert Neill           b. 18 Dec 1817} Twins
   1.4   Peter Neill             b. 17 Aug 1819
   1.5   Alexander Neill      b. 19 Apr 1822
   1.6   Isabel Neill            b. 14 Apr 1824
   1.7   John Neill              b. 6 Dec 1830
   1.8   Margaret Neill        b. 21 Aug 1833

Further research leads me to believe that finding Peter Neill's parents will enable me to connect to several earlier generations. So, any help in tracing Peter Neill's (b. c.1793) parents will be deeply appreciated.  Thank you!!   

Incidentally, I was delighted to see that the above information that I have gathered has already helped another Rootschat member who appears to be related, in some way, to my friend.

Looking on scotlandspeople I found the death, from heart disease, of Peter Neill, aged 73 on 19th Oct 1863 in Inveresk. He's listed as farm servant, married to Margaret Chalmers.

His parents are listed as Robert Neill, blacksmith and Isabella Neill, md Young - both deceased.

The informant was his brother, John of Eskside, Musselburgh.

In 1851 census at Masons Mains Inveresk,

Peter Neill 57 b 1794 Liberton Edinburgh Farm Labourer
Margaret Neill 55 b 1796 Prestonpans Haddingtonshire
Helen Neill 32 b 1819 Inveresk Midlothian Labourer

In 1861 census at Pinkie Burn Farm, Inveresk Haddingtonshire,

Peter Neil 69 b 1792 Liberton Edinburgh Ag Labourer
Margaret Neil 67 b 1794 Prestonpans Haddingtonshire
Helen Neil 43 b 1818 Inveresk Midlothian Ag Lab

Cannot see them after 1861 census but problems with spelling, one l , 2 l's and maybe with o'.
It is never easy.
