There is a marriage between Robert Alford and Hannah Phipps on 3 June 1809 in Temple parish, Bristol according to the Bristol and Avon FHS marriage index CD.

Could this be them?

Hi Jui

No it is Temple in Bristol - see this Wikipedia link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temple_Church,_Bristol

I have looked at the full entry for the marriage on my CD and unfortunately there is not a lot more info just that both were otp (of this parish) and the marriage was by banns.

Looks like it might be worth a look further in the Bristol archives,

Cheers

Hi Jui,

I don't think it was RC just a parish church built on the site of a Knights Templer Church.

There is a good description on http://www.churchcrawler.co.uk/ Find the link to Temple Church - Holy Cross and follow..........

Good luck

Temple Church is a CofE Parish church in Bristol Centre. It's just south of Bristol Bridge, off Victoria Street. The church was burnt out in the blitz, but the walls remain as well as the remarkable tower, which leans like the one in Pisa - it was nearly pulled down by over-zealous fire fighters in the blitz as they thought the lean was caused by the bombing.

The area was a crowded, busy one in the nineteenth century with a good deal of industry
