Ipswich Record Office - NORMAN - Chattisham MIs
« on: Tuesday 31 July 07 23:59 BST (UK) »
If you happen to be in the Ipswich Record Office could you possibly look up the graveyard transcriptions for Chattisham parish church for any mention of the Norman family and the details on the grave stones. I identified 4 gravestones (sadly eroded) when I visited the church tho' there may be more.

Thank you :)

Welcome rosydrifter!

I hope that you will visit us often and make lots of progress with your research. :)

As far as I am aware, the MIs for Chattisham have not yet been transcribed, so this information may not be available even at the SRO.   It may be though that someone with an interest in the parish has transribed but not published them, so I have altered your message title to include Chattisham just in case.

If you need details of NORMAN burials at Chattisham, it might be worth contacting the volunteer who offers lookup from the Chattisham PRs at The Suffolk Surname List.

Kind Regards
Rick :)

Hi rosydrifter

Taken from Chattisham bishops transcripts (on film at IRO).  I looked for all mention of NORMAN, not just MI's, so you quite possibly have this info already ...

Baptisms
6 April 1760 Alice Norman d/o Jeff. & Mary Norman
20 Sep 1761 John Norman s/o  "   "     "
28 Jun 1764 John Norman s/o "    "    "
27 Jun 1766 Wm Norman s/o  "   "   "
3 July 1767 Amy Norman d/o  "  "   "
8 Jun 1769 Hann. Norman d/o  "   "   "

2 Jun 1788 Mary Norman d/o Cooke & Dinah Norman (late Cole)

24 Dec 1797 Wm Norman s/o John & Ann Norman (late Last)
28 Apr 1799 John Last Norman s/o  "   "    "
22 Feb 1801 Thos. Norman s/o   "   "   "

Burials
4 Sep 1762 John Norman infant
28 Feb 1788 Jeff. Norman married man aged 61
10 Dec 1791 Thos. Norman twin infant s/o Cooke & Dinah Norman (Cole)
15 Feb 1792 John Norman twin s/o Cooke & Dinah Norman (Cole)
20 Aug 1793 Thos. Norman s/o Cooke & Dinah Norman (Cole)
22 Oct 1797 Mary Norman aged 68
21 Apr 1797 John Norman, infant, from Hintlesham
6 Jan 1801 Hannah Norman, d/o Cooke & Dinah Norman
14 July 1805 Geo. infant s/o John and Ann Norman (Last)

Despite all these burials of children of Cooke and Dinah Norman, only one of the baptisms was transcribed in the BTs, as I went back and double checked.

Will add the MI's on another post, as I found quite a few.

Kind regards
Anne
