Boughey / Pitchford - any takers?
« on: Wednesday 01 August 07 16:51 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Is there anyone with connections to these two names in the Newport / Wellington areas?

I have Thomas Boughey married to Sarah Pitchford in 1834, Wellington.

Sarah died in 1842 and Thomas subsequently married Sarah's sister, Georgiana Pitchford.

1851 census has Thomas and Georgiana in Newport. Thomas gives his place of birth as Hinstock (?) and Georgiana gives Edgwood ( ?). Not very clear so I'd appreciate confirmation of these place names.

Thomas and Sarah's daughter, born 1839 and also named Georgiana, married Richard Griffiths in 1865, Madeley.

There were several more children from Thomas's two marriages ,so if anyone has them in their families and can tell me any more about them, please get in touch.

Regards,

Jen

Hi,

Just confirming place names:  definitely Hinstock which is about 6 miles north (ish) of Newport and I think Georgiana`s place of birth is Edgmond which is about a mile and a half west of Newport.

Mo

Thanks,

Having checked further censuses, I had come up with Edgmond too.

I can't imagine that Boughey was such a common name so would imagine that my Thomas will be linked to your Mary somewhere along the line.

I have been looking at Pitchfords on the  Family Search site and they were quite plainly a local family going back several hundred years so that line could prove very interesting.

Cheers,

Jen

The Boughy family owned Aquilate Hall just outside Newport on the road to Stafford , she had a home named after her called the Mary Rodham maternity home ,my wife was born in there ,now wether Rodham was her maiden name im not sure . The pitchford family were/or a well known family in Newport ,Roy Pitchford had a hauliers businessa few years ago ,sadly he died fairly young but a nicer man you couldnt wish to meet.A Pitchford married a Shepherd and they had a son named Benjamin born around 1898 .The Shepherd family are my wifes side of the family and we have managed to trace her family back to 1800,... signalman
