i'm struggling to read the occupation and birthplace of mary davies.
can anyone read it?

Hi Sueky and Tati,

I think the occupation is Keeper (of) a Mangle and she was born in Maryport, Cumbria. If I'm right the folio number should be 60.  :-\

Sorry Newf I was just amending my post to include the folio after I'd seen Tati's reply.  :)

In "A Dictionary of Occupational Terms" of people who worked in the nineteenth and early twentieth century, a Mangle Keeper was a mangler who did mangling for people who did their own washing.
