Hi Abygail,
I'm coming coming in a bit late here but I have been searching on google and this thread came up. I'm afraid I can't help you in regards to Daniel Kelly but if you are tracking Mary & Abrahams children I may have some answers for you, at least for one of them, their daughter Mary, born in Smythesdale VIC, in 1858.

Mary Firth married John Davies in 1883, they had (as far as I know) 6 children. John died in 1894 and two years later Mary married for the second time, this time she married George Andrew Rischmuller, divorced father of 4 year old George Hermann Rischmuller. (George Andrews parents Johanna & Hermann were Germans who married on the Ballarat goldfields.)

George Hermann Rischmuller was my great Grandfather :)

Mary and George Andrew had no children of their own. George died in 1917 and Mary died in 1920, both are buried in the Ballarat New Cemetery. I do not know if they are buried together as I am currently living in WA and have not visited the cemetery yet.

I know this doesn't solve your Daniel Kelly riddle but I thought you might still find it interesting :)

Regards,
Belinda.

Don't go throwing brick bats at Daniel, wait in line, there's a few others that would like to have a shot first. :-)   I know most families have at least one ancestor that can be a challenge to find details on, but this one...
There are a limited number of men bearing the name (Daniel Kelly) in Australia by 1849, surely it shouldn't be this difficult.  I really don't care how remout a potential lead may seem, it is easier to eliminate it rather than not know about it at all.    Belinda, will PM you re what ever info you may have re Mary Firth /Davis  history. regards,
Keep the leads coming, one day I will have a winner.

Hi abygail

Your obviously looking for a Daniel KELLY who married Mary BASTABLE in 1849.
The Daniel KELLY who arrived on the "England' may not be that man.

There is a marriage at Geelong in 1843 for a Daniel KELLY to a Mary MARNELL, this occurred in the Catholic Church.
A Daniel KELLY died Corio 1848 aged 35, fits better - Death registered at St Mary's Catholic Church Geelong.

The Daniel KELLY who died in 1854, appears to be married to Bridget HOGAN.  Their son Patrick was born Circa 1836.

Do you have a birth certificate of any of the Firth children?  It should list all children born including those of her first husband.

Regards

Genni
