Alternative names for Nellie

I am looking for a lady whose first name on her marriage certificate is written as Nellie.

Try as I might I can find no other reference to her with that first name. I have also tried looking for Nelly, Nell & Ellen.

Can anyone think of another names that Nellie could be short for?

My grandma was known as Nellie or Nell, but her name was actually Helen

Also spelled as Elinor. Then there's the idea that it's a nickname - wasn't there a musichall artiste Nellie Dean, so if the family name was Dean....

Just remembered another one- grandmother's Aunt Nell was Mary Ellen.

My auntie Nellie's real name was Helena Rose.

I would have thought however, that on such an important document as a marriage certificate your Nellie would have put her full name - just to be on the safe side! She wouldn't want to be told her marriage wasn't legal sometime in the future because she hadn't put her proper name on it!!!
