Thanks to all you good folks for the suggestions
After seeing all these variations I am now convinced that this lady's baptised name was not Nellie, but I may stand to be corrected when/if I discover any other documentation about her.
I fact I am beginning to think that if she did change her name, she must have done it to spite me
