lost grt grandfather
« on: Monday 06 August 07 19:54 BST (UK) »
My grt grandfather Dennis Forrest is lost after 1891 census
If I have traced him correctly on census he could have been born any time between 1855-1862 somewhere in London but I cannot trace b/c or d/c for him only m/c  at wits end dont know what to do next  only know for certain father called John Forrest and wife was an Ellen Gunn
Hope someone out there can help me thanks

Welcome to Rootschat.

There is a Forest family in Lambeth in 1871:

1871  RG10/667
60 Cardigan St

Charles Forest, 50, lab
Jane F, 41, wife
Emma F, 14, dau
Anne F, 12, dau
Robert F, 10, son
Frederick F, 5, son

All born Lambeth

There is no Dennis there, but Dennis did call his second son Charles.
It is possible that Dennis was away, or Robert changed his name.

No further clues in 1861.
The family is there (under FORIST) with a two month old Robert.

Ah, just spotted that you say Dennis' father is John!

hi thanks for your help yes i do have dennis forrest m/c he was married 8-11-1985  two months before my grandad was born to ellen emma gunn his residence was berwick st st james westminster, father called john both were bootmakers
i do know john was married twice as my mum whos 87 knows more abt her grt grandfather nothing abt her grandfather
taken that i have the right dennis on 1861 census sent for both m/c of john who i know was born 1835 ireland
i could be going right up the wrong tree  but both m/c say he was a bootmaker and his father was a dennis forrest farmer so seems to fit would like to have sent for b/c of dennis to confirm very complicated
