Hello Capricorn AND JJ!! Thank you for alerting me that there were messages on my posting....sadly, I had received NO notifications.
A few comments are in order -- firstly - the marriage IS my Father and his first wife altho the names are a bit mangled.. Keen eyes on that one! Thank you! I had known the year of the marriage, but not the month and date.
Thanks again. Since my last posting and while everyone else has been busy working on this family - I have received additional information on the internet and Ellen M. Neish's FATHER was ALEXANDER NEISH/McNeish...he was born 23 July 1857 in Tongueland, Kirkudbright, Scotland. He is last spotted, with his wife, Mary (nee:Patterson) and his 3 daughters, in 1901 in that area in Scotland working for the railroad. There was confusion in the family about Ellen's Father's name, apparently.
I did receive new verbal information that Ellen's Mother, Mary (nee:Patterson) Neish ran a boarding house in Winnipeg. There was never a mention of her Father assisting in running that boarding house. I am therefore, making a huge jump and assuming that Alexander Neish/McNeish may have, in fact, died BEFORE his widow and 3 daughters came to Canada. Also, I found a website devoted to the Neish/McNeish family on the internet -- the information posted is fairly accurate but I have been unsuccessful in having a response from the people who control the website. Again, my sincerest thanks for all who have worked on this family for me. I think, at this point, my only big unanswered question is when did Alexander Neish die and was it, in fact, in Scotland? Sincerest thanks to all.
