Heelo Janice M, I am certain that the Mary Neish death you found in 1938 is the mary I seek. her husband was named John and he is not there - only a James.  I thank you so much for finding Mary for me. The informant on her State death certificate will surely help me. Again, my thanks!  :D  Pat

Here she is in 1911! as Ella M.

says born Ireland though? ( 1910 immigration!)  so perhaps correct, or  a coincidence...?
Ayrshire's close to Ireland... (;D  short swim)

Hopefully this isn't the rest of the family as Mr.,  Mrs. & Shirley Neice

Looks as though the lodgers were out and someone just filled in whatever.... ::)

Unless only Ellen ( Ella) came to Manitoba, and John & Mary & Ina remained in the east...
Here is a John...you didn't say a date but this one is born Scotland, age 46 and married -  immigrated 1911...but I can't find any other neish family other than the man's siblings on this page...  ::)

Although I have no knowledge of the Neish family having gone to Canada, I'm sure the family in above census posted by JJ are distantly related to me from my ggggrandmother's brother

Her brother's daughter went onto marry George Neish and they had the following children

Mary 1872
James 1873
William 1876
Isabella 1878
Alexander 1879
Georgina 1881
Robert 1883
Thomas 1886

I've just had a look at my tree.
John Neish is half brother to the above. His father George was married twice.

Hello Capricorn AND JJ!! Thank you for alerting me that there were messages on my posting....sadly, I had received NO notifications.  :'(  A few comments are in order -- firstly - the marriage IS my Father and his first wife altho the names are a bit mangled.. Keen eyes on that one! Thank you! I had known the year of the marriage, but not the month and date.  ;D  Thanks again.  Since my last posting and while everyone else has been busy working on this family - I have received additional information on the internet and Ellen M. Neish's FATHER was ALEXANDER NEISH/McNeish...he was born  23 July 1857 in Tongueland, Kirkudbright, Scotland. He is last spotted, with his wife, Mary (nee:Patterson) and his 3 daughters, in 1901 in that area in Scotland working for the railroad. There was confusion in the family about Ellen's Father's name, apparently.  :o   I did receive new verbal information that Ellen's Mother, Mary (nee:Patterson) Neish ran a boarding house in Winnipeg. There was never a mention of her Father assisting in running that boarding house.  I am therefore, making a huge jump and assuming that Alexander Neish/McNeish may have, in fact, died BEFORE his widow and 3 daughters came to Canada. Also, I found a website devoted to the Neish/McNeish family on the internet -- the information posted is fairly accurate but I have been unsuccessful in having a response from the people who control the website.  Again, my sincerest thanks for all who have worked on this family for me.  I think, at this point, my only big unanswered question is when did Alexander Neish die and was it, in fact, in Scotland?  Sincerest thanks to all.  :)  Pat
