According to A History of Congregations in the Presbyterian Church in Ireland 1610-1982 says 2nd Boardmills asked for 'supply of sermons' in 1811 but the 1st minister was ordained in 1816.

Have you got a copy of that book, aghadowey ???

Hi Folks, Can anyone tell me which church is being referenced from the items below?

From the IGI...
1790   Presbyterian, Boardmills, Down, Ireland Batch M700011

07 DEC 1792 Robert McFarlin Birth  Presbyterian, Boardmills Down Ireland
Parents: James McFarlin and Isabel Martin Batch C700011

I think it now must be 1st Presbyterian, but is it Boardmills or Saintfield?

Can anyone tell me where the original records might be held?

Does anyone have access to these records? If so is it possible to look up for some other children with parents Robert and Isabel?

Thanks

Am assuming you got your information from www.familysearch.org

If you go to the page for Robert McFarlin's birth and click on SOURCE it will list the information below.

LDS has 1st Boardmills Presbyterian Church 1782-1889 (typescript):
Contents: Births, 1782-1889, with Second Boardmills baptisms, 1856-1866 [1 page only, with 2 marriages] -- Marriages 1782-1844 -- Irregular marriages 1784-1842.
FHL BRITISH Film 823750 Item 1
You can order this film from your local LDS library for a small fee.

LDS site does not list anything for Saintfield Presbyterian Church for correct dates that I can see.

Thanks aghadowey. I have looked at that file and it is typewritten. This is how it reads...

1790 James McFarlin (irreg)

No spouse, no witnesses, no date. I just thought I might be able to find something from another source.

I determined the spouse from subsequent births of their children Robert and Isabel

Does anyone know what "irreg" means?

If it's a marriage 'irreg' might mean an irregular marriage (ie one not recognised by the church) but there should be a spouse listed. It is possible, if it is a marriage, that the bride's name could not be read or was missing from record. Have seen a few early marriages in other churches when space for either bride or groom was left blank and suspect that minister didn't know the name at the time he was recording the marriage.

Thanks aghadowey.

I didn't realise there was an index. I must mention it to the Ballynahinch library as they appear
to have only the book in their reference section. What's the date of publication of the index?
