Caroline- Just to confirm that I will look for two death certificates, daughter, Annie Steele Milne, 1910/3/2 and mother. Martha Steele Milne, 1910/10/31.

I will check for obituaries as well since both events were in Vancouver.

Unfortunately, the library staff are still on the picket lines. Last week it looked like they were close to agreement, but it fell apart. So now no telling how long it will last. I will go as soon as possible however and will post at that time.

John

Caroline,

I gave up on the city library since they are still on strike and visited the university where they have partial records. I got the two death records and also got a copy of the daughter's birth record although you already have it apparently.
I will PM you on details and follow-up.
John

hi john
Granny gave me a 20 year old letter froma canadian cousin who had researched our family tree.  She really wanted to know why Alice Milne hd died and said there was a family story that she had fallen off a picket fence and pierced her eye which was fatal.
I'm interested to see if this was true

Caroline,

Did the family story turn out to be accurate?

no

it's hard to read but it says acute cardiac dilation (?)  not sure what that means but definetly not falling off a picket fence!

That's interesting, Caroline.  I wonder if an obit or newspaper write-up might have mentioned such an injury?  Maybe the accident happened but wasn't the cause of death?

Caroline,
The hard copy I got says "acute cardiac dilation in influenzal pneumonia, two weeks". If you can't read that I could try to re-scan or maybe mail the hard copy if you wish. Please let me know. I will try to find the obits when the city library is back in operation which may provide other clues.
