Chester City Centre.
« on: Friday 17 August 07 11:33 BST (UK) »
Hello Listers.
Does anyone know if King St in Chester is still there, or has it been built on?
I bought a "tour guide" while I was in Chester yesterday, and when I read it back home I noticed that there's a King St marked behind the Town Hall. I was lead to believe that it had long gone, and was now built over.
My GGG and GG Grandfathers had a Clock Making business there in the 1800's. The name was Griffith. Does it ring a bell with anyone?
I would love to know if it's still there, it was 143 King St.

Hello Celia.
Many thanks for your reply. A very kind man on the Cheshire Rootsweb list has been to photograph the road for me, but unfortunately some of it has disappeared  for the inner ring road, the 2 houses that I was interested in!
There is a Photographic Museum nearby that will probably have pictures of them, so I shall pop in and have a look when I'm next in Chester.
Thanks once again.
Yours.
Ann.
