I would like to trace the ancestry of William Robert Tracey, who claimed to be born in Dungannon, County Tyrone, in 1882.  He said he was educated in Irish National Schools, and joined the Burgh of Partick Police Force (Scotland) in April, 1902, and resigned in July, 1910.  He emigrated to Canada shortly after, and joined the City of Winnipeg, Manitoba, police force in October, 1910.

I was in Ireland a few years ago and tried to find birth records, etc., in and around Dungannon, without success.  The nearest I could find was a John Tracey born in 1872.

Any help will be much appreciated.

In Ireland Tracey is often spelled Treacey/Treacy - did you check those spellings?

William Robert does not seem to appear in 1901 Census of Scotland.  Did you try any parts of Dungannon in 1901 Census of Ireland?
