Thomasson,Lancashire, Bolton

I'm looking for Walter Thomasson, born in Bolton, Lancs., around 1840.
He married Betsy Howarth in Bolton, 5 October 1861, when they werew both 21 yrs old. I have Betsy's birth cert. but cannot find Walter anywhere earlier than 1861.
Any Suggestions would be most welcome.
