I think you might be right, OR...I was wondering about the name at the bottom of the card, it seemed too elaborate for the 1870s  :-\
However, I think the quality of the portrait is much too low for such a recent date (i.e. 1900-ish) and so I wonder whether or not this is actually a reprinted photo (either from the original negative - unlikely - or from another print).  It may explain the 1870s style of the portrait, and also the very fuzzy, poor-quality image  ???
