Blurton Poorhouse - where was it? Completed
« on: Sunday 19 August 07 07:20 BST (UK) »
One of my ancestors, John Boardman, was buried at Trentham.  He is said to have been a Pauper of Blurton Poor House Staffordshire.

Would anyone happen to know where this poorhouse was located please?

These links are great, I found the 2nd one especially good as my ancestor, John Boardman, died in Blurton Poorhouse in 1795 so must have been there just after it opened & it's great to have a photo too.  He was born in Caverwall in 1825 & would have been 60 years old when he died, a good age in those days I would imagine.   Nice to read that it was thought of as being like a gentleman's villa than a house of industry!
Many thanks
