My great, great grandfather John Brown a Carpentor  lived in Wood Lane, Port Glasgow, he died on the 19th May 1873 in the Burgh Poor House.

Could anyone please let me know where the `Burgh Poor House` was, I have searched the iinternet and have only found Glasgow Poor House, would that be it?

Sorry to be a pain but is Greenock Poor House actually Burgh poor House?

Hi Malshie
when you google Greenock Burgh poor house
it come's up with the Sneddon poor house in Paisley
there are no inmates recorded there yet
yes it does make sad reading
and greatful for the life we have
