Which one is William?
« on: Monday 20 August 07 15:21 BST (UK) »
The man on the horse is William Coulthard, but I can't find him on the group photo.  Apparently he is on there.  Can anybody else with better eyes find him?

Thank you

Rosemary

I'd say he looks like the guy right in the middle, though the badge on his hat is smaller

I thought that, but when I closed in on the faces, they don't look the same.  Maybe they were taken a couple of years between.

I think it could be the chap at the front in the middle, or else the chap right at the back, in the middle.  Bit hard to see him clearly, but he looks a possibility  ???

Hi

I don't think that the chap in the middle is a gunner, his cap badge does not look right.  The gunner to his left looks to me as if he could be your man.

Hi
I tried to get two images attached to my recent post but alas they have disappeared.  So I will try again (forgot to tap my head three times)

Hmm you might have something there - the man in the middle looks as though he doesn't have a badge on his cap at all, and the man on his left could be a possibility.

When I enlarge the photo too much, the faces aren't as clear - sorry it's so hard to make out

Hi
The one without the Artillery cap badge seems to have a dark round thing in the badge position on his cap.  I thought this was a small badge but I suppose it might be the way the cap was manufactured to provide a badge mounting.  Anyway I decided he was not William because the distance from mouth to tip of chin was not as long as in the picture of William mounted.  However, the proportions of the other chap's face do seem to match the rider.
All the best
