« on: Thursday 23 August 07 21:04 BST (UK) »
My Grt Grt Grt Grandfather died in Dundee Royal Infirmary in 1874,does anyone know where he might be buried.I know the hospital doesnt exist anymore, only the nurseing quaters which have been turned into flats.I doubt he would have had a headstone as his family had abandonded him some years earlier. He had been liveing in Dundee East Poorhouse until he got very ill with chronic bronchitis which he died from.Anne.

Hi Anne
Your ancestor might be buried in Eastern Cemetery on Arbroath Road Dundee.
There is a ' common burial ground area ' .  My gt gran was buried there in the early 1890's.  This cemetery seems to be the one for the folks who died in the east end of  Dundee.  Try Dundee City Council. Leisure & Arts Dept Floor 13 Tayside House Dundee DD1 3RA, it's best to include an SAE  Good luck Jenc
Kincardineshire - Beattie Dickson Tavendale Donaldson Whyte Wishart
Forfar - Adam Grindlay Easson Fyffe Livestone Wilson Fairweather Boath
Fife - Berry Brown Keith Kirkcaldy Walton Johnstone Gourlay Robb Robertson Pattie Stevenson Taylor
Glasgow - Fitzgerald, Campbell, McInnis, Sheriff, (Smith, Chambers.) maybe Ireland
Angus - Saunders, McGregor Richardson  Moore.
Inverness-shire - McLean (I hope)

Another optional burial gound would be the Dundee Howff ( the "new " section of which was not far from the DRI).
There is an online record for the Howff at www.fdca.org.uk/howff.

Good hunting.
