Hi again Sandie

A possible marriage of Kezia's parents as Oundle is not far from Thrapston or Barnwell .

Thrapston Parish Church
May 29 1826
William HUNT of Oundle to Esther GESS otp

On the 1851 census Esther says her place of birth was Thrapston.

Therefore there could a baptism at Thrapston. Oundle or Barnwell for Kezia.

Also it is looking as though Esther noted on the 1841 could be Kezia's Mother.

Hi Sandy,

well done, fantastic find there.

On interpretting what you have found, do you think that Esther
may have married two William's ie William Hunt, and then William Pratt?

Do you know what the opt would stand for after Esther Gess?  My sister
just suggested Of This Parish... she just googled it, cleverer than I she is!

cheers
Sandie

Hi Sandie

I was hoping the marriage of William Hunt and Esther Gess may have a relative noted
as a witness but no.

I checked for a Baptism of a Keziah in the Parish Records for Thrapston, Oundle and
Barnwell All Saints and St Andrews none there either.  :(

I did find William Prattt (1810) and Esther Gess's (1802) (also other children had
different spelling of the last name) baptisms though if any use.

If Esther is the mother of Kezia then your next line down maybe the marriage at
Barnwell All Saints of John and Esther (Slatcher) in 1793.

o.t.p can mean of the parish/of this parish.

HI Sandy,

thanks for the info,

You have lost me a bit with the marriage of John
and Esther (Slatcher) in 1793.  Would that be Esthers parents?

I wonder if I found William Pratts death certificate, or Esther
Gess's death certificate, maybe Kezia might be listed on there
as a witness.  Wouldnt it be nice if like in Australian death certificates
it named the children of the parent!  I am pretty sure I have
found Esthers death, but William Pratt, I have about 4 possibles.

Kezia would have had to have been baptised/christened to be married
in the church would she not?
cheers
Sandie  :)

Hi Sandie

Yes the marriage would be for Esther's parents that I mentioned.

Quote

Normally but it could have taken place anywhere between numerous villages it is a
case of finding the correct one.

It would be nice to have all the info the same as on the Australian Certificates but
alas it is not so.

I also found a possible death for Esther Pratt in 1886 Mar Qtr Reg Oundle.

The most likely one for William would be 1888 Jun Qtr Oundle also.

I am afraid that the records are still held at the 2 Barnwell churches for Burials so it is
a case of asking some kind soul if the could check the Churchyard or a possible
Cemetery if one.

Hi Sandie,

Well, it might be time to order some more certificates.  I would
like to confirm Kezia's parents,  Esther and William Pratts look
promising, William Hunt  is still the mystery.
Are certificates the best way to go?
Then I can work on the parents marriages.

I was in contact with another person researching Hunts from Northamptonshire
yesterday, unfortunately we dont have any links.... so far.  He did
have some notes on Keziahs wedding banns to John Hunt from his
research.

Cheers
Sandie :)

Hi Sandie

I think the next step is to find the baptism of Keziah so you know for sure who her
parents are or purchase a death certificate of either Esther (who may have William as
the widower) or William.

If the family had moved from the village by then it maybe someone else giving the
information rather than kin folk so you may not gain anything more than what they died of.

I will P.M. you over the Week-end as I am out tomorrow if you wish me to ?.

Hi Sandie

Now in case these are yours I found the gravestones of William and Esther Pratt
his parents Thomas and Hannah and William and Esther's son Charles.

Luckily for me the Church was open so they let me inside for 10 minutes whilst
they were cleaning up so also took a picture of the font.

This was at Barnwell St Andrews then we went to find the Church at Barnwell
All Saints.

We drove by it 4 times LOL until we spotted someone in the village who told it was
up a hill hidden by trees and just the Chancel remained.

Took photo's some un-readable of  200+ graves (and 1 dog) though so with the other
Church took over 600 not bad seeing I only went to Thrapston Craft Fair.

People in the villages were really friendly and told me that the "Stone Cleaners" had
been in the Churchyards and what a trial that had been.

Will put piccies on the Northamptonshire Forum as can not post them here and then
I will take them off when you have seen them.
