Larne ??? Not on yer nelly, squire. Actually old boy, it's Anglo Irish, public school educated in Dublin, with
a smattering of the lingo of travelling people since I worked several years in a circus, and a sprinkling of Ballynahinch 8)

I'll admit you could be close to the locality. It could possibly be East Antrim as my mother's people came from the Ballyeaston area ;)

Really enjoyed the article.  My husband and I (!!!!) have lived away from Northern Ireland for 40 years and still use a lot of those words.  I'm always telling my granddaughter to gather up her prugh before she goes home.  I have the Concise Ulster Dictionary in my posession if anyone wants me to look up a word from their past.  RosemaryJoan

Reading Blackadder's topic on how to speak Ballymena moved me to look at the Ballymena Times link, given in that topic.
I sent an email, and if you look at the site, under Ballymena Heritage you will find a link to 'our wee website'.  Enjoy.  RosemaryJoan
