Hi

Haven't found Charles on the 1851 census but think i'm getting somewhere with other members of the family.

Following on from the IGI names given earlier by JeanP, I've found Isabella Kerr on the 1851 Census working as a servant (age 10). I believe it's the correct Isabella for two (extremely tenuous) reasons.

The IGI gives her name as Isabel Fyffe Kerr and the place of birth (Oathlaw) is the same as this Isabella. The middle name, Fyffe, is the surname of James's mother. The second reason, is that her address in 1851 is Bonnytown in Maryton, this is the location given as the father's address when she registers the birth of her illegitimate son David.

 :) I found Agnes in 1851:

Agnes Kerr 39, head, Domestic Duties, b. Glenisla
David Kerr    5, son, b. Craig
Wm Alexander    20, Lodger Labourer Agri, b. Brechin
Ann Rennie    6, boarder, b. Craig
James Rennie    34, Lodger Labourer Agri, b. Newtyle

Address:  Holemill, Craig, Angus

Looks like husband James and older children were away from the home working.

...still have to find Charles, he's there somewhere!

Monica

Hi Monica

thanks for this, the 1841 census shows James as being absent so I guess this was the case for much of the time.

Do you have any idea where we can find pre-1855 burial information? There are a couple of children who I can't find listed anywhere.

Cheers

There are a number of sources for MI inscriptions in Angus including books and probably some death details on the OPRs for Angus. If you google you can get some idea of what is available.

It might be worthwhile starting a separate post, specific to this request, so that if anyone has access to these records they could do a look up for you.

Regards.

Monica  :)
