P01988 batch on LDS gives John and Sarah of the family in Long Wittendon Berks.
Do you know if John has siblings?

Hi Lesanne.
I don't know any more than I wrote earlier!  I don't feel he is Long Wittenham man because the dates are so out.
1784 for LW man and 1776 if the burial for Joseph is right.
What made you think of Abingdon and Wallingford?

Hiya,
How about this....John and Sarah LW family incl a Joseph '84.

John and Sarah Huggins mar 20/1/1781 Wantage. M021982
No Tuckwells just Huggins in C021982 (note C/M on batch nos)

and Huggins is fairly common round our neck of the woods. I have them too!! so got to be worth a look. lol  ;D

Finding a local John Tuckwell abt 1756 +/- 5 gives s/o John Tuckwell and Elizabeth in Hagbourne.
And there is a Joseph in the siblings 24/8/1755.  P018941

Hmmm... What say you...  ;D

Hi,

I just said that I thought the LW Joseph wasn't my man because of the birth date, 1784.
And, maybe I'm being dense, but where have Huggins come from or are you thinking that the wife could be a Tuckwell?  Where did you find them  - in the Hugh Wallis lists?
I've seen there are loads of Tuckwell's in Hagbourne.  But the Joseph (sibling)of John  would be far too young B. 1755
Have to keep hunting,
Abiam

This is Joseph LW parents John and Sarah Huggins married Wantage.

As there are no Tuckwells in Wantage to marry she must of married in her parish, so Joseph father John had to come from outside.

If John named Joseph LW from his brothers names, looked for a John with the right birthdate with a brother Joseph.

This Joseph (Hagbourne) could well be Joseph LW's uncle.
All the batch numbers that I used are on the post.

Must away to work. Have fun.

Hi Abiam
you say someone checked Chilton. I wouldn't write it off just yet. Do you mean there was no christening registered there?

Checking through the birth transcipts I have
South Hinksey Nothing 1750-1780
Appleford Charles Jane and Ann 1780s
Kingston Bagpuize nothing in the period
Marcham zip
Hagbourne a few Tuckwells born 1718-1772 then nothing after this time notably Joseph cr 24 Aug 1755 Jno and Eliz.
Long Wittenham Jos 23 May1784 Jno and Sarah
keep in mind some christenings didn't occur till long after the children were born
sorry don't have the other parishes mentioned
Chris
