I got an answer!
Either my persistence of sending the second email worked or the fact I put my email address in but I got an answer!

That is what has happened to me a couple of times, I get an email, I answer and then nothing back. I can only presume they have taken the information I provide and are not interested in helping me back!
Very sad

After many similar experiences with people who contacted me, I now tell them I have further information to share if they send me their email address . . . then only the serious ones get in touch.
I no longer bother at all with the automated queries unless they add a personal comment explaining their interest . . . and even the last two of those didn't respond . . .

Are Ancestry forcing an unwanted system on to people or are they just not genuine searchers??

does that mean if we are not a fully paid up member we can contact people?
i had the problems to begin with and just assumed that it was becasue i wasn't paid up, and since then i just havent bothered to answer the emails, purely because i thought i couldn't
i better start answering them then.

I thought it was just me until I spotted this thread.
I've had the same trouble with a public member tree. Made contact with the person & had an answer & he seemed quite keen, so I sent my e-mail addy hoping to share info.
That was 2 weeks ago so I still have my fingers crossed.

As frustrated as all this is, it is so nice to know I am not alone in this problem. That other people are as frustrated as me by non replies is comforting but I wish Ancestry could do something more to encourage people not only to be able to communicate but to actually answer back.
What's the point otherwise??
