Thanks for that. I just looked on the map and Closeburn is not that far away from Penpont, Thornhill.

The David Williamson I am researching was born c1843. He had a brother John Williamson born Girvan, Ayr, c1847 (see Twynholm 1851 with parents John and Margaret). I am trying to find their whereabouts in the following years.

A John Williamson married my gtx2 grandmother in 1855 Kirkmabreck with 2 living children and I always assumed that the above entry was the family.

I have entered previous posts about this family but didn't find the children again.

I just wondered if they stayed together as they grew up or whether they perished as, presumably, their mother had!

Yes, there is one possible on the 1861, with a John Williamson too, both in Dumfriesshire. Can you do something with this please? Thanks,

Thanks for the work you are doing. As regards your latest question......

I went onto Ancestry and put in the details "John Williamson b. c1847 plus/minus 2" and also "David Williamson b. c 1843 plus/minus 2". A few entries came up in Dumfriesshire for both names, around the year I was expecting but, of course, I couldn't access the entries as I am not a member.

Hi Judy,

There is another David of right age brn Dumfries but he is with his parents Andrew and Mary.

There are a few John Williamsons of right age in Dumfries but none born in Ayrshire. 2 are from England and the others born in Dumfries and living with the wrong parents.

Have to go for a bit. Will see if i can find anything else later tonight.

Good luck
