Hi Mary

There was another relation in Melbourne.  Henry STONE migrated in the mid 1850’s.  His mother was Jane FRY who was the daughter of John FRY and Jane JACKMAN.  Jane JACKMAN was the widow of Robert TEEK.

David is a wealth of info on the family.

Regards

Bitzar.

Thanks Bitzar ... another Melbourne person I see, as am I.

I would be interested to hear about Henry Stone but I am afraid that is yet another rabbit burrow I don't have time to go down at the moment. Do you have any of his life here? Was he in the Geelong/Ballarat areas?

I appreciate David's Teek family information and I am lucky I stumbled across him and this site.

Cheers

Hi Mary

This is not my family, but the family of close friend.  I think I knew her family better than she does, lol.

Henry STONE was a very successful butcher in Footscray.  He had a large family.  The family vault at Footscray cemetery is possibly the largest there.  Please google ‘Henry Stone Durham Ox’.

Henry’s father, also a butcher, died young.  He left a wife, Jane FRY and a young family.  I believe both Henry and Jane were trained to be butchers after the death of Henry’s father.  It’s possible that Jane went on to have her own butchering business with brother.  I need to research this further though.

I have seen that Flintoff painting in the Ballarat Art Gallery. expect that it is the same Henry Stone.

Hi Mary

It is him.  There is another portrait in storage at state archive too.
