I am seaching for details of my Ancesters   CHARLES BARNETT

1861 CENSUS has him aged 56 born abt 1805 board Appollo Frigate

IGI Christened 12 May 1805 Farnham Surrey

RACHEL BARNETT

Born abt 1825 Thames Ditton

1881 census she is a Laundress in the Workhouse Infermary Queens Road, Croydon     Pauper Aged 56

1861 census she is with Charles aged 56 she is stated as aged 39
Croydon Surrey.  4 children Harriet 1 William 3 Charles 5 Emily7.

HMS APPOLLO was commisioned in 1805

I would greatly appreciate help in finding B M D for both.

I may have his fathers name HENRY BARNETT  mother Mary

How come he was born on as Frigate where was the Frigate built

The previous HMS Apollo was wrecked in 1804.

Farnham is rather a long way from the coast for a child born on HMS Apollo to be baptised.  And what were his parents doing on board a frigate?  Was his father a navy man?

Do you have Rachel's maiden name - from marriage certificate or from one of the children's birth certificates?

If his father was not a navy man he may have been carpenter or such like and had his family with him during the building of Appollo? The link you sent me has Appollo built in Bursledon 1803 and fitted out in Portsmouth 1805

There is a big age gap between husband and wife and he must have died after 1861 making Rachel a pauper?

 Charles Barnett and Rachel Harveys are my 2 great grandparents, i have Rachel Harveys death cert and the marriage cert for Charles and Rachel.
Charles and Rachel married 25/12/1852 Church of St Peter, district of Norbiton,
Charles aged 34 years Rachel aged 29 years
Fathers names James Barnett and William Harvey
Bach and spinster by banns
He was an excavator
witness Joseph Harvey (brother) and George Wade
Both living in Norbiton Street.

Rachel died in the Croydon Workhouse Infirmary on 12/6/1881, widow of Charles Barnett labourer, Emily Withers (daughter) in attendance, Rachel was aged 63 years.

1861 Charles and Rachel lived in Croydon with there 6 children
1871 Rachel was living with John Gibb as his wife (they never married) and her children
Two of her children are my great grandparents, Harriet and James.

Charles Barnett aged 48 born Farnham was living in Farnham with his wife and 7 children on the 1851 census.
