Hi Rick,
Yes but its getting more coplicated by the minute . I have now found that a William and Susanna BAYLIS kept the Twistledon Arms in Broughton which is where alot of my Morbys were from (I managed to visit neighbouring Tadmarton earlier this year). Any way  This William was the son of Thomas Baylis and Nancy Morby
The Landlord before William Baylis was an Edward MOORBY (as yet not linked in) Edward's daughter married James BUSBY who was murdered in the Twistledon Arms and two witnesses mention William and Mrs BAYLIS as Keeping the Inn ( William was dead at the time of the murder) )Thomas Baylis must be about 1750 so how did he relate to the John Baylis we sorted last night as father of Frances (m William Young the father of the 3 YOUNG inn keepers) ANd How does Nancy Morby relate to Edward the older Broughton Inn keeper?
Didn't you say it can do your head in '???'

Hi Trees,
Just sent you a personal message.
The local brewery around here used to be Morlands and they owned most of the pubs in this area, but they were taken over by Greene-King, they've got a website, not much on it about old pubs but it might be worth contacting them to see if they have Morlands records, might be of some help.
Stu.

Hello Trees,
Just been to my dads who has loads of books on Abingdon and found one on the pubs . There used to be a Bury Lane but it was later called Bury Street. The Crown was mentioned in it as follows,
Crown Bury Street, earliest date 1854, Billings Directory.
Closed pre 1897. Tenant in 1854
             William Young victualler and butcher.
Hope this may help a little.
