Bradbury Llanidloes
« on: Friday 31 August 07 23:14 BST (UK) »
Were there many Bradbury families in Llanidloes, my stepfather William Eric was born there in 3rd qtr 1908, i know he had a sister Eileen, & a brother Frank, i have tried looking up the name and have traced it back to Birmingham, John T, b. c. 1856, were there Bradburys in Llanidloes before then ?
I would love to hear from any Bradbury's who can clarify the family details.     Bodger

Hi Bodger..

On the 1891 census.......

Hannah Bradbury/age 18 / visitor / born Llanidloes

Visiting the Eynon family at Aberdare, Glamorgan

Thomas Bradbury / age 15 / lodger / born Llanidloes

Lodging with the Davies family at Llantrisant, Glamorgan

None of the people they are with, were born Llanidloes

These are the only Bradbury's i have found, so far, actually born there.....

Hi Bodger

I have sent an email to a distant Bradbury cousin of mine, who still lives in Llanidloes.

I will let you know when I receive a reply.

JeannieR,
thanks for the info, Hannah & Tom would fit the "bill " names & dates tie in with John T Bradberry"sic" 1881 census
Hi Jan,
the only known facts that  are that William Eric,b. 1908  3rd. qtr.L lanidloes, had siblings, Frank & Eileen, a possible Eileen ,b. 1907, 1st qtr., but no ref to Franks birth?.
I am in touch with a related Bradbury he tells me his father was Tom, b.Llanidloes, & he had brothers ,  William & Isaac,  and that William Eric was his uncle.
On a guesstimate,, the names could also tie in with  John T in the 1881, Hannah, c. 1874, John, WILLIAM, c. 1876, Thomas, c. 1888, Isaac, c. 1880.
Interestingly there is a Mary Bradbury, servant, b c. 1863, Wolverhampton on the census.
                                   Thank You Tony

Hi Tony.....

I don't know if it is of any significance, but there is a birth registered for a Frank Bradbury, Sept qtr 1910, Cardiff, Vol 11a page 478.....This would be in the time scale for the family.....

there is also a marriage for a Frank Bradbury, which took place in 1913........

Have you found any of the family in 1901 ?

Regards

Jeannie

Jeannie, the only info i found in the 1901, Wales census, Isaac as a stepson to Hugh & Elizabeth Jones, b. 1854, i suspect that her former husband John T Bradbury died, and she remarried Hugh Jones,

Hi There......

Here is the family in 1891....Bradberry !

19 Picton Street . Llanidloes

Elizabeth Bradbury/head/widow/age 37/ Charwoman / Llanidloes
Annie THOMAS / daughter / single /age 20 / General servant
Isaac Bradbury / son / scholar/ age 12
William Bradbury / son / scholar / age 10

I also found the info , that you have on the 1901.

Hannah will most certainly have married by 1901.
I was just about to find out who Annie Thomas was. It would appear that Elizabeth give birth to her when she was 17 years old

Me again !

John T Bradbury married Elizabeth Thomas/ March qtr 1874 / Newtown / vol 11a page 258

Hannah Bradbury married William Henry NICHOLAS / Sept qtr 1891/ Myther Tydfil / vol 11a page 879

1901 census
36 North View, Aberdare , Glamorgan

William Nicholas / head / age 29 / clewer? /born Pembroke
Hannah / wife / age 28 / born Llanidloes
Elizabeth A / daughter / age 9 / born Aberdare
William J / son / age 7 / born Aberdare

I think the daughter , Annie Thomas, age 20 on the 1901 census
may have been born 1872. as Ann Elizabeth Thomas, and may have been living with a aunt and uncle on the 1881 census.

Not sure if this is the info you were looking for,but hope it helps anyway.......

Hello again :)

My Bradbury cousin is checking out her family tree, and I have also sent her the link to this topic so she can pop in and have a look (and may become a new member ;)).

Interestingly, she has that name in her Tree too!!
