Gorleston Parish Records

Hi,
Can anyone tell me where I might find the parish records for Gorleston. I am particularly interested in the period 1850 - 1900

Gorleston PRs are actually held at the Norfolk Record Office.  I will move your post over to the Norfolk board in case someone can help.

Hi Rick,
Thanks but according to the Norfolk record Office list of Parish Registers, they only hold baptisms for Gorleston  to 1852.  and marriages and burials finish even earlier than that!! So I wondered if the later ones were held at Suffolk Record Offices.

As far as I'm aware, the SRO only holds BTs for Gorleston (?dates) & Oulton Workhouse Burial Records 1834 -1899.

As I'm sure you know, Gorleston transferred from Suffolk to Norfolk in 1889.  Any parish records held in Suffolk should have been transferred to Norfolk at this date.

I think you might need to contact the NRO to find out what happened to the post 1852 data.

I shall be visiting the Record Office shortly so I will try and find out where the later Gorleston Records are.

Hi

Lowestoft RO has copies of the Gorleston PR's but only the same dates as the Norfolk RO

I think that later dates are still held by the Church at Gorleston
