Beverley Memorial inscrition
« on: Wednesday 05 September 07 13:48 BST (UK) »
Hi All;
Trying once more to obtain, if there is any WWI memorials that hold the  inscription of a Robert Bush KIA in the great war, I have all details on his service etc, but unable to find a inscription of where i beleive he was living when joining. if there is a list of those that returned safly then it would include George Watson Bush.
I am sure that Robert moved to Beverley Yorks to his brothers (George Watson Bush) house around 1910, where he later Robert and possibly George Watson joined the East Yorks regiment.

As i understand there are still Bush related family in the area, but at this point unable to make contact.

I am particuly interested in Robert Bush inscription if its there, any help would be gratfuly............

Hi

New to Rootschat (couple of weeks anyway) helpful people, so I may be able to give something back

You asked a similar question a while ago, people were referring to looking at the memorial in the Memorial Gardens adjacent to St Marys Church
In Beverley there are still at least two memorials (roll of honor) on walls, I think these were raised to commemorate people from the neighborhood and were paid for by the local community

Do you know what area of Beverley he was living in

Thats really kind Steve,  I did have an address sent to me via an email, but lost it when my PC last crashed, so unfortunally i don't have an area, only Beverley.
I am not sure how large Beverley is.

Hi again
No luck, went out cycling and looked at four places

Memorial Gardens adjacent to St Marys Church, I know someone had previously looked

Roll of Honour Keldgate
Roll of Honour Norwood

War Memorial at Woodmansey, small village about a mile south of Beverley, it is inscribed Woodmansey and Beverley Parks

I'm sure there used to be more Rolls of Honour, the two I looked at appeared to have undergone restoration. I will try and find an email for the town council

Have you tried the following website http://www.cwgc.org/ it gives the following results

Question are you sure they joined the East Yorkshire Regiment, reason for asking the Woodmansey Memorial has names and regiments, very few were in the East Yorks. Also my grandfather joined up with the East Yorks in Rye, Sussex
Do you wish to email me so as if i have any luck I can contact you

Steve
