Smallbone East Farleigh
« on: Tuesday 11 September 07 22:58 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have any information on the Smallbone family believed to be in East Farleigh (Farley) around 1800. The 1840 census shows William Smallbone born 1801 in East Farley but I'm drawing a blank.

Thanks,

John

Hi John

Welcome to Rootschat

Are you sure the 1841 census says that William was born in East Farleigh as birthplaces aren't usually given in the 1841 census - usually only whether born in or out of the county of residence?

Do you have him in any later census and, if so, when and where?

When/where were his children born and when/where/whom did he marry?

I do hope we can help you try and establish something about your William and some answers to the above may help.

Best wishes

Casalguidi

I can't see any SMALLBONES in East Farleigh in 1841. :(

There are a few in Maidstone, but no William.

Thanks for your help everone.

I made a mistake with which census showed the East Farleigh connection, this was 1851 not 1841.

William is shown in 1841 as living with Jane Powell & I have no idea who she is and her connection with william.

The marriage of William Smallbones to Elizabeth Goldsmith in 1798 would seem to tie in with his birth 1801.

I don't think the death in 1867 is my William as he would be 66 not 56.

The marriage to Mary Reed seems correct and fits in with the birth of their first child.

I am new to tracing my family, but am finding it real interesting and appreciate the help.

John.
