Dwyran Chapel, Llangeinwen
« on: Thursday 13 September 07 14:37 BST (UK) »
Has anybody any idea how I can access information for this chapel. Is it still functional and would they hold any records there?
Any help would be appreciated.

The earliest register of baptisms (1812-1837) is at the PRO in London,
but I believe there is a transcription available on the net (see GENUKI).

Minute books, other baptism registers and collection books for 1812-2002
are at the Anglesey Record Office in Llangefni.

Bangor University Archive has the chapel minutes for 1882-1891.

Gwynedd Family History Society has transcribed the memorial inscriptions.

As far as I can tell the chapel is still going strong. And so is the burial ground -
my second cousin was buried there last winter.  The bulk of the older records
is probably now at the Anglesey Record Office.

I have lots of family here myself (Williams & Owen).
I was there quite recently (in the last 18 months) & whilst many things have been moved to LLangefni from most churches on the Island this still has most of it's books - kept safely in Tesco carrier bags.

Hi,

Thanks for your message - do you know whom I could contact to look at the Tesco bags (or more importantly the contents therein)?
