The North Wales BMD has a Jonathan Humphreys registered 1838, Meifod.

Hi Gadget,

Thanks for the possibility of "Jonathan".  That name does not appear in any subsequent record.   It was John or "J.R.," as he was known I was trying to trace  In fact it was his place of birth I was trying to prove.  If his father, Robert, had been born elsewhere then he, too, may not have come from Meifod.

For the n^th time I have re-checked my copy of the MGS Meifod baptisms.  He, Jonathan, or John or JR isn't there.  BUT for the first time I have noted that pages 55 and 56 are MISSING.  Guess what, they partly cover 1838!!!

I will contact both the register office and MGS and try and sort this generation out, before going back further.

Bryn Ellis, who coordinated the Montgomeryshire  BMD project is pretty good and would have got the records from the local office for this.
