Shifnal 1791 British Directory
« on: Friday 14 September 07 14:02 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I saw in the 1791 British Directory for Shifnal  on the Parishmouse web site that a number of names have (F) after them eg Roden Thomas (F). I wonder if this means they were "freemen". Can anybody confirm this ?

Regards,

Barry

Hi all,

An update on my original message:

Shrewsbury RO thought it might mean that they were freemasons.

Any ideas ?

Hi all,

An update on my original message:

It appears that the (F) means "Freeholder) ie they had the vote. There's nothing in the Shrewsbury RO so I guess it's back to the drawing board.
