She was born in Alderney !!  :D :D ....... maybe I got her from 1841 census !!

EDIT ..... 1841 is def Susan ....... I just looked !! so you were right .... so where did I get my Suzanne Jahet ??

I started this post 2 months ago and I've lost my thread  ::) .... I'll take a look at my stuff and see what I can see !!

Either surname would seem probable - neither are 'Jersey' names but could well be Guernsey/Sark/Alderney families.
If she was a SARKETT it would explain why Mary has Sarkett as a middle name.
Also there appears to be only 1 Louis GROIZARD in Jersey at that time (of that age range.)

I presume you have the 1871 Census with both families at same address?

The way they baptisms have been transcribed means I am not sure why there is (widow) beside the surname GROIZARD.  Obviously he has been given his mother's maiden name - perhaps for the obvious reasons? The rectors are not usually shy in calling a spade a spade in the circumstances of an illegitimate birth - maybe he was being subtle???

Thanks Pam ... yes I did have that  :) .... I have about 4 or 5 families that all seemed to be in and out of each others houses !!  :D .......... that's why I thought I'd better ask !!

Edit .... Mary was the widow of John Thompson when she married John Muels !! ....... but who's this John ?? I don't have him .... I don't think .... oh Lordy !!  :D
