Harriet Emily Catherine Heaven (1865)

A clue to ther real age may be when her last child was born.

No, but I have looked at the marriage returns at my local Family History Centre: chaplian returns, overseas returns and regimental returns. I think they got married in Ireland or Scotland (but I've looked at the Scottish marriages and there's no sign there either).

Blimey!! No that's a new one!! John Mealey, St Helena Regiment married Mary Bray 19 June 1826! That explains why the daughters weren't baptised until 1826, even though Isabella was born in 1824 and Eleanor was born in 1822! Thanks so much for finding this!

And there was also a son, John Henry Francis Mealey born 1827 on St Helena!! This is the first new information I've had since hearing back from the Witwatersrand University over a year ago!

Unsafe to assume that Eleanor and Isabella were the daughters of Mary Bray. John Mealey may have been a widower.
This sounds like a good one to pursue. [My wife has a St. Helena-born grandfather].
