Hi Bearkat,
In the Will - Only mentioned Real Estate - not what it was. He died Sept 1894.
Real Estate unto his 2 Trustees to receive the rents and profits & after deducting expenses necessary to keep buildings in repair & insure, the income to his wife during her life. After wife died to be sold & divided amongst his sons & daughters. I have already had a search made from 1908 (when wife died) for 4 years to 1911 but no luck at The probate Registry York.  So now wonder how else I can find these details out?
regards, Margaret.

You could try checking the 1873 returns of the owners of land.

Also the rate books if available for the appropriate period could help.

Thanks David for this information.  Could you please advise me where I would find the Returns of the Owners of Land and Rate Books?  Are they available by web site on line ?  regards, Margaret.  Motueka New Zealand.

The Owners of Land return wasn't available online the last time I googled, so I bought the CDrom. What's his name and I'll have a look - it only shows people who owned a minimum of one acre of land.

PS The name ROGERS does not appear in the Beds Owners of Land

Thanks David ( Living in the land of the frogs!)  Name Thomas Hedges ROGERS. Died 16.9.1894.  The Trustees in his Will are William Wood YOUNG and John Henry GREEN both of Leighton Buzzard. Malsters.
which I read from the Will, he made the real estate over to them to administrate. regards, Margaret

No Thomas ROGERs owned property in Bucks and no ROGERS at all in Beds in 1873

Might he have been the owner of the Bell and Woolpack?

In 1890 Kelly's Directory the publican is William Pearson but he could just have been the tenant, with Thomas still owning the property.

Hi David,
Yes, Thomas was Inn Keeper at The Bell & Woolpack in 1881 census.  His daughter Sarah Ann married Samuel Pearson - Father is William Pearson. In 1891 census Samuel is Inn Keeper at The White Horse Inn Leighton Buzzard.  Thank you for looking up the info on Thomas.  It doesn't look like Thomas did own property. Margaret.
