Hi wavyone

Have you got the death certificate?
The name, & hopefully address, of the informant may help point you in the right direction.

Do the council not have a grave purchase register to tell who purchased the plot and when unless, of course, it was a public grave :-\

Is there anybody else buried in the plot (from the grave register as opposed to the burial register)?

The Register of Burials is with Dover District Council, which covers Deal.
There's an email address here

Hi Waveyone

Does it give anything else about the informant ie. "causing the body to be buried" or any relationship?

yes it states,  causing the body to be buried but says nothing about a relation.

Was there an inquest?  It sounds like the informant might have been the local Coroner.

I'm very surprised that you did not get a good response from the Council - I have always found them to be extremely helpful, even to marking graves to make them easier to find.

Or I suppose the informant could have been somebody from social services or a similar organisation/hospital etc. if there were no family around.  Saying that, however, I have several death certificates where the informant was "causing the body to be buried" yet there was close family living nearby.  It was suggested to me that perhaps the funeral arrangements were left to the authorities so that they paid for it :-\

Did she die in a home or hospital?

When you contact the council, you need to enquire about the burial register, grave register and grave purchase register - they are three separate things.
